Serum has long been a source of valuable information relative to the health of a patient. It turns out that this source of information is so vast that it has been larger untapped.
Pathogenesys currently offers several ELISA-based assay for use as potential surrogate assay in the conduct of clinical trials. These include CEA, CA-15-3, soluble EGFR, soluble HER-2, and a Nucleosomal ELISA for evaluation of serum DNA.
We have recently invented, characterized and evaluated the performance characteristics of a novel Serum DNA assay. This assay measures ‘masked” or nucleosomal DNA in serum or plasma with high sensitivity, reproducibility and robustness. This assay is currently available for evaluation as a clinical trial surrogate assay. See the above link for further detail.
Additional assays under development include mutational analysis from serum DNA and a tumor-focused method to segregate tumors based upon a limited karyotype using serum DNA. For more information, please contact Dr. James Thompson at 949-258-0318 or e-mail at jthompson@pathogenesys.com .
